Battery Chargers & Batteries
Camera Batteries
Different cameras use different types of batteries, and some take batteries that many households keep in stock such as AA batteries produced by companies such as Duracell and Energizer. Other cameras have batteries that are produced for a specific model or line of cameras. Normally these cameras are high-end models that look like those that are used by photography professionals. It is important to know what type of battery a camera uses before purchasing, if the battery is rechargeable and what accessory needs to be purchased to recharge the battery. Some cameras use docks that offer a variety of features when you place the camera in the dock, including charging the batteries. Other companies use battery docks, and yet others use an AC adaptor that will plug into the camera to charge. It is important to consult the user manual for tips on how to extend battery life for a camera. Using such tips will go a lot farther in prolonging battery life than searching for cheap alternatives to the official battery.
Canon Camera Batteries
Canon batteries can be found in many different styles and flavors. There are batteries produced by Canon themselves; you can never go wrong using an official product. Duracell offers a full line of Canon-compatible batteries as well. It is important to find the battery that is compatible with a camera before purchasing. Both the Canon and Duracell online stores offer compatibility searches, though they are implemented in slightly different ways. If a long lasting battery is desired make sure the battery purchased says it is a “long” or “extended” life battery. Again consult the camera’s manual for tips on extending battery life.
Nikon Camera Batteries
As with other companies Nikon produces its own line of batteries that are approved for use in their cameras. As with Canon cameras Duracell offers the full line of Nikon-compatible batteries that a consumer can find using their website. Finding the battery compatible with the camera model is easy, Duracell offers a series of dropdown menus that ask for the model and recommends the proper battery. The Nikon official site does not offer such a compatibility search. Be aware if using a site that does not list batteries by brand and model number. A consumer will have to know their specific model number to be certain that a battery will work with their camera. Make sure to hold on to those manuals and write down the model number in an obvious place if it is not listed directly on the documentation.
