Digital Camera Batteries

Digital camera batteries come in different shapes and sizes and as individual sometimes as the camera itself. One of the reasons why there are so many different digital camera batteries is that the digital camera has a very high power consumption and its designers trying to make the camera itself smaller and smaller need to invent batteries in smaller and smaller sizes that still can provide the right power needed.

For the commonly used compact and ultra compact digital cameras manufacturers tried to reduce power consumption slightly so that regular off the shelf batteries like AA or especially designed lithium batteries with extended life could be used.

The idea behind this was to give the user the possibility to find batteries in a dash in almost every store around the corner. Since regular AA batteries cannot sustain the high power as long as needed for several digital camera photo sessions, manufacturers also came up with lithium and lithium ion batteries. These batteries have a longer life than regular batteries since they are first of all rechargeable but also can deliver longer power than a regular battery through special technologies. Since the very first batteries used, digital camera battery life has extended far beyond hours of usage. Manufacturers sell their entire camera plus a digital camera battery and usually also a charger.

Discount digital camera batteries as well as low cost digital camera replacement batteries with chargers are offered by lots of different companies. Apple digital camera batteries or Bronica digital camera batteries and chargers are just tow names appearing in stores, online and in digital camera battery reviews. A digital camera battery review will give information about power available, hours of operation, longevity and price. Of course not every battery can be compared to every other battery that is why there are different categories for battery reviews.

Batteries for digital cameras should be recycle at the end of their lifespan. Local businesses and most city halls will offer recycle bins for batteries, since they are not biodegradable and will also poison the soil the get landfilled on if they are in regular trash.

With the trend on the market right now digital cameras will get slimmer and smaller in the future and batteries will have to follow that trend. Currently some cameras already use button size batteries that have a new technology to give a certain power. With creating more and more electronic hard to recycle trash manufacturers also have to think about new ways of recycling and reusing old camera parts and batteries.
