Film Cameras

Not sold as often anymore as just about five to ten years back, the film camera is still fighting to keep a niche in the market. Since the first permanent photograph in the early 1820s photography has changed a lot. Early film cameras were not more than a wooden box with sliding doors to expose the film material.
In 1685 Johann Zahn built the first camera obscura that was a transportable version of the wooden boxes later used again as first camera experiments.

And George Eastman first used photographic film in his first film camera “Kodak” in 1888.
Antique Kodak Cameras and Kodak film where simple box cameras with a fixed-focus lens and affordable for the average consumer. This camera was much like today’s throwaway cameras. It had enough film for 100 pictures and then was send back to the company for picture development and film replacement. Old film cameras came as folding and box models.

Till well in the 20th century camera film pictures where not as good in quality as plate cameras and therefore usually not chosen by professional photographers.

In the later years of the film camera other companies offered also film cameras. Fuji film cameras and Minolta film cameras are worth mentioning. Pentax also offered and still offers high quality film cameras. For example information on the Pentax 35mm K1000 film camera can be found widely on the Internet and some versions of the camera can be bought on ebay.

Now that digital photo cameras are the new technology on the market and quality of digital pictures is getting better and better film cameras are slowly losing the ground. The debate film versus digital cameras has slowly been moved towards favoring digital cameras at least with the average consumer. Though lots of professional photographers still prefer professional film cameras event hey start to buy professional digital cameras with ever evolving technology in the digital camera market. The best film camera available or the best film camera for you is not that easily determined. In trying to figure out the answer to that question it is always good to read film camera reviews. A film camera review is available on the Internet or with consumer groups. The review will list all the features and the quality of the camera and pictures in relation to the price.

Lots of film is still developed nevertheless since disposable cameras still take a big part of the cheap and easy to use cameras. With costing just a few bucks including the film and sometimes even development it beats buying an expensive film or digital camera especially if you are only planning on taking a few pictures.
