Konica Minolta Digital Cameras
Konica Minolta digital cameras are another brand name sometimes still available on the market. About 4 years ago two Japanese imaging firms, Konica and Minolta, mainly selling copiers, printers and fax machines merged into Konica Minolta. Now Konica Minolta has a wide range of imaging products, including measuring instruments, optical devices, graphic imaging, office equipment and medical imaging devices. At some point back in the history of Konica and Minolta they also produced cameras, camera equipment and camera accessories until the beginning of 2006.
In 2006 the company announced that due to financial losses and other issues they would give up the Konica Minolta digital and film camera business. Sony bought the Konica Minolta SLR cameras section and Sony now develops cameras compatible with Minolta lenses. Therefore lenses for Konica Minolta digital cameras are the only original Minolta part in new cameras. Cameras are still available with the brand name Konica Minolta. Konica is also planning in 2007 to shot down all other imaging sections like color film, photo chemicals, color paper and even their digital mini printing systems. Before the sale of the photo section there were Konica Minolta digital cameras with 8.0 Mega Pixel available that took pictures in good quality. Some of the chemical industries such as the photo film and photo paper were sold to other companies and are under their names still available.
Some parts are still available as spare parts for Konica Minolta digital cameras such as a Konica Minolta digital camera chargers and Sony will make sure that any problems with SLR cameras from Minolta will be helped. It is not guarantied that there are parts for the Konica Minolta cameras and in most camera repair cases it is anyways recommended to buy a new one, unless the cameras is less than 1 or max 2 years old.
So if you had in mind to buy a Konica Minolta you might want to look for older refurbished versions or look on ebay and other resale stores. A new one will not be available any more besides the ones that stores still have in stock.
Some pages online will still have Konica Minolta digital camera reviews and rankings from former years and some historic sections will also provide information about Konica Minolta.
But there is always the option of buying a Sony, Pentax or other companies digital camera instead.
The companies’ merger worked out well for them other than in the imaging section, unfortunately for some Konica Minolta owners that wanted to stay brand name true it means they have to find a new brand or different camera manufacturer.
