Right Angle Viewing Attachments Or Viewfinders
Viewfinder
The traditional method of aiming a shot for a camera is to look through the viewfinder and shoot the picture or video. There are many ways for a company to make a viewfinder in their cameras but many involve some type of glass. This glass makes things looks smaller and more blurry but helps to give a more true idea of the area where the picture will be taken. A lensless viewfinder is more desirable to see the focus better and allows for better ease of use. The negatives to a lensless viewfinder is that it doesn’t give any idea of how much of the shot will be cut off and it is larger making leaving less space for the rest of the camera.
Compact Digital Cameras With Viewfinders
Many new digital cameras have a view screen instead of a viewfinder to take the shot. A lot of slim or compact digital cameras have a screen that fills the whole side opposite the lens. These screens give a true representation of what the picture will look like once it is transferred over to a computer for printing, editing or uploading to the internet. The drawback of these screens is that they drain battery life much more quickly than if the camera just had a traditional viewfinder. The quality of slim line cameras is growing but the technology is still expensive but should be considered for the recreational photographer. It is never a good idea to buy cheap electronics because more expensive means the latest technology, which makes it not obsolete as quickly. Plus the more expensive means the more durable and long lasting the equipment will be.
Camcorder Viewfinders
Many camcorders still come with a viewfinder as well as the flip-out LCD screen. The viewfinders are still there for many traditionalists who like to truly feel like they are behind the camera. Plus it ensure that they aren’t being filmed themselves which is a plus to some. Others prefer the LCD because on most models it can now be flipped around so that the person recording can also film themselves at the same time as filming others. This feature has become so innovational that most digital camcorders include this feature. The negative is that the LCD will suck more battery life than just the normal viewfinder. If it is a long filming time that is desired then it is important to close the LCD display so it is turned off.
