Specialty Cameras
There are many different types of photographers and these different types of photographers need different types of specialty cameras. There are many different types of specialty cameras. There is a long history of cameras. The earliest cameras are dated back to the 1800’s. Although cameras in the 1800’s did not produce the type of photographs we expect today, they provided the basis upon which today’s cameras were invented.
One of the earliest specialty cameras was the box camera. The box camera was one of the most simple and inexpensive cameras of all time. They got their name because of their box like appearance and were a starting point for a new market. The new market came with the Brownie Box Camera. The creator of the Brownie Box Camera created a camera that was marketed by “Brownie” characters, similar to Disney characters. This created a market for children and cameras. The only camera that was more simplistic was the pinhole camera. The pinhole camera could be made from a simple oatmeal container and could be used by many. The box camera and pinhole camera were inexpensive and easy to use. Along the same lines was the Holga camera. The Holga camera was developed in Hong Kong was also extremely inexpensive and easy to use. These cameras were marketed to families with low income to help document the lives of friends and family. Other such specialty cameras are the range finder cameras. The range finder camera helped the photographer to determine the distance between the photographer and the image. This helped to create a crisp and clear photo. If the photographer was also an artist, the camera Lucida would be right for them. This camera would project an image on to paper, so the photographer or artist could trace the image on the drawing board.
If photographers were more technologically advanced they may be interested in some of the following specialty cameras. Underwater cameras have been developed to be shock proof and develop clean crisp photos of underwater landscapes and animals. The modern underwater cameras are protected by housings they provide full use of the cameras no matter where the photographer is. However, if you are a land loving photographer, cameras such as a panoramic camera or subminiture camera may be of interest. Although the subminuture camera is of interest, the panoramic camera is much more useful. And, if you are a business person looking for cameras there are options available to you as well. These options could include, video side scanners and viewers, and video presentation software. No matter what type of photographer you are, there is a camera to meet your needs.
